Mr. Nick Porozni, Director annd Secretary Treasurer

 

Nick Porozni spent the first 39 years of his life in management with CNCP Telecommunications. He has been active as an investor in many different portfolios. From 1977 to 1983 Nick Porozni was a  member of the Board of Governors for Grant MacEwen College in Edmonton, Alberta. In 1983, he became involved with the “Economic Society of Northern Alberta”. Over the next decade he held various offices including the offices of Secretary, Vice President, Program Chairman,  and President. Mr. Porozni is still active within this industry today and is an honorary life member. Mr. Porozni was instrumental in purchasing the land now known as the Maple Ridge Industrial Phase 5 subdivision.

Mr. Fred Umbrich -Director

 

Mr. Umbrich has been involved in the realty development business in Edmonton, and has built a number of Warehouses in the Argyle area over the years. His passion for development caused his investment in the 72 Acre parcel now being marked by PRO-LAND.  Upon semi-retirement in 1989, he retained some of his realty in the Edmonton, and added additional realty investment in the Yukon. His successors are also very involved in both PRO-LAND, carrying on his vision of realty development.  Mr. Umbrich is an active director who enjoys the participation construction and development. He has been instrumental in making the PRO-LAND subdivision a success.

 Mr. Joe Kabat - President 

 

Joe Kabat was born and lived in the High Prairie area of Alberta.  He spent the greater portion of his life operating an earth moving contracting firm in the High Prairie area. His contracts included the building of roads, and bridges for major oil companies and the government. During this period,  Joe Kabat retained an interest in Galaxy Aviation out of Drayton Valley. Galaxy Aviation had an inventory of (8) eight aircraft / DC 3 , twins, and smaller.  He still retains a valid Pilots License and one twin aircraft.  Upon semi-retirement in 1989,  Joe Kabat recognized the potential of Realty in the Edmonton, and surrounding area, and purchased an interest in the land now known as PRO-LAND, as well as other land in the city. He enjoys the participation in development and has kept his hand on the pulse. He has been instrumental in making the PRO-LAND subdivision a success.

 Ms. Phyllis Pylko -Associate Director

 

 In 1988, Ms. Pylko was a key player in initiating the set up of a Family Trust and vended in the assets that the family was holding as individuals. Her investments included business operations, buildings, and raw land in the Edmonton Area. Recognizing an active realty market, she joined forces with three other families who had land in the same area, forming PRO-LAND and using the in-house expertise of her associates and family to build a successful development company.

 

Ms. Pylko is a forward thinker and believes in investing in residual income realty and developable land, thus enabling stable retirement alternatives. She has been retired from her work in the Health Care field since 1998, and has a grown family that she has raised.

Garry Umbrich, director and VP Finance for PRO-LAND

 

 Garry obtained his graduate degree in management at Laval University in Quebec City and his bachelor degree in commerce at the University of Alberta. For the past 22 years Gary has worked for First Nations, in Quebec and in the Yukon , for their development corporations and as an executive director. He also started up the Yukon’s only 5 star accommodation facility, Hawkins House Bed & Breakfast, which he ran and operated with his wife for 13 years. Garry and his wife currently own and operate Hotsprings Valley Retreat, a retreat centre at Takhini Hot Springs just north of Whitehorse in Yukon. In April of 2008, he and several business partners purchased the remainder of the shares of Takhini Hot Springs Ltd. and are now currently working on developing a 305 acre, world-class, sustainable resort community. Currently, Garry sits on the executive of the Tourism Industry Association of the Yukon as their finance officer. He also continues to sit on a steering committee with government and First Nations to start up an executive development program for Yukon First Nations in order to better implement the land claim and self-government treaties in the Yukon.
