Garry Umbrich, director and VP Finance for PRO-LAND Garry obtained his graduate degree in management at Laval University in Quebec City and his bachelor degree in commerce at the University of Alberta. For the past 22 years Gary has worked for First Nations, in Quebec and in the Yukon , for their development corporations and as an executive director. He also started up the Yukon’s only 5 star accommodation facility, Hawkins House Bed & Breakfast, which he ran and operated with his wife for 13 years. Garry and his wife currently own and operate Hotsprings Valley Retreat, a retreat centre at Takhini Hot Springs just north of Whitehorse in Yukon. In April of 2008, he and several business partners purchased the remainder of the shares of Takhini Hot Springs Ltd. and are now currently working on developing a 305 acre, world-class, sustainable resort community. Currently, Garry sits on the executive of the Tourism Industry Association of the Yukon as their finance officer. He also continues to sit on a steering committee with government and First Nations to start up an executive development program for Yukon First Nations in order to better implement the land claim and self-government treaties in the Yukon.
